In the longing, i assume joy will be found when there is fulfillment. Fulfillment of a longing should only point us to the Source.
You have put more joy in my heart than they have when their grain and new wine abound. Psalms 4:7
He is the Source of joy.
When planning for vacation, the anticipation brings about as much if not more thrill than the actual days at the beach.
Life is found in the longing.
I waited patiently for the Lord, and He turned to me and heard my cry for help. Psalms 40:1
